All the Eras

I love when my favourite artists pivot and change up their albums so starkley that you can really tell which song belongs to which era based on it's subject matter, the mood, the storyline, the feeling and when it was written. I have always been obsessed with classifying things, writing lists, putting things in groups so it is so much fun to see these songs in different eras according to how they differ (and how they are similar). I hope you enjoy and let me know which era is your fav!

For me, this song is about my struggles to cope with the expectations on me as a teen to “mature” by a certain timetable. It is about my attempts (and failures) to fit in what is perceived to be “the norm”. In writing it I realized that nobody really has it worked out and that its okay to feel afraid, to want to grow at your own pace rather than match an “emotional growth chart”. To not feel you can only start living when you have it all sorted out.
It’s an ongoing struggle – I can’t say I have it all worked out. But maybe I am onto something there and it is the stereotypes that have it wrong...
